Nike Shoes |
The Nike Shox shoes were the product of a sixteen years of research in the Nike Labs. In the fall of 2000, the Nike Shox system was revealed to the world. Nike unveiled this top secret line of shoes to the world in 3 models, the Nike Shox , and the Nike Shox XTR (cross-training shox).
How did the system work It was actually very simple - the Shox would absorbs energy from impact (kinetic energy) of the wearer’s heel and then returns the stored energy (potential energy) as he moves forward. The Nike Shox technology does a better job of returning the energy transfered to it than the Air Max shoes. The Shox shoes were very cutting edge using a super high density polyurithane hollow foam columns as the shock absorbers in combination with a TPU heel counter to ensure equal distribution of the energy from impact.
The Nike Shox R4 running shoe has been the most successful shoe in the Nike Shox lineup. The shoe was available in a variety of colors and was also available on Nike ID. The R4 has been released several times and is the only shoe in the original lineup to have been released several times
2004 The release of two popular Shox basketball shoes, the Nike Shox Explosive and the Nike Shox Elevate. The Shox VC IV, Shox signature shoe for Vince Carter, is also released.
2001 Nike releases the first Shox based shoe.
1997-1998 New, high tech, high durability materials make the leaf spring obsolete and bring about the current form for Nike Shox: four cushioning columns between two resilient plates. The results is an effective cushioning system with a high energy return.
1990 A few years later, and still a decade from launching the Nike Shox shoe line, Nike Shoes test the first shoes that is a recognizable ancestor of the modern Nike Shox shoes. By integrating the stability of the spring plate from the previous designs with injection-molded support columns, Nike finally made progress in the creation of Shox technology.
1987 The next generation of Nike Shox prototype attempted to solve the problem of durability and stability by replacing the closed leaf spring with a hinged carbon fiber shell, creating a something that looked like a running shoe on a diving board. This breed of spring failed completely to provide enough resistance on impact.
1986 The third attempt at Nike Shox produced a simpler, and more attractive cushioning system utilizing a closed leaf shaped spring, but still disappointed in durability, comfort, and stability.
1984-1986 Based on the information extracted from its predecessor, the section prototype of the Nike Shox line was a scaled down, more stable shoe using a leaf shaped spring to provide the optimal spring of the first unit. Easier on the eyes with good cushioning, it lacked stability and durability.
1984 The first Shox prototype is inspired by an exceptionally springy indoor running track at Harvard. The prototype looked more like a medieval torture device called The Boot (this device was used during the Spanish Inquisition to extract information and confessions) and performed much the same way. This first Shox prototype was used to find the optimal spring rate, but it ’s clumsy and heavy metal frame did nothing to improve performance.
Shox is technology developed by Nike Shox, Inc. and incorporated into several of their flagship athletic shoes. Nike Shox are small columns that make up the midsole of the shoe. They are mostly made of rubber. There are many different formations that Shox come in, but they usually come with four circular columns in a square formation for maximum cushioning. There can also be five or six Shox that vary in height, and triangular and rectangular Nike Shox that provide better stability. Some shoes have midsoles made entirely of Shox, like the TL series.
Athletes that are notable for wearing shoes with Shox technology include Vince Carter, Jermaine O''Neal, David M. West, Carlos Boozer and Imran Halim . Some of Nike’s best selling Nike shoes include Shox, like the Nike Shox NZ and Shox Turbo, which still release in different colors. These shoes can be found for customization on NikeID, Nike''s online shoe customizing site. There are numerous options like different colors and materials for the Nike Shox, along with custom tags on them.
The first shoes to use the Nike Shox technology were introduced in late 2000, the Nike Shox R4 runner, the BB4 basketball shoe, and the XT4 cross-training shoe.
Hugh Laurie of Fox''s "House" is said to have 37 pairs of size 12 1/2 Shox that he wears on the show, and off set.
Nike claims that Nike Shox not only absorb impact from heel strike while running; they also "spring back" and add more power to a runner''s stride.
On February 17 2006, BBC News reports that Nike Shox has filed a patent infringement suit against rival Adidas, claiming that a range of their trainers replicate its technology.

The Nike Air Force One debut in 1982, and even though the shoe is made for basketball, it is more of a shoe for. In 1982 when they first released, the Nike Air Force One was the first model to have Nike Air technology. In the 1980’s the Nike AF1 was popular like they are till this day.
The Nike Air Force One shoes have been a major hit in the hip-hop community. Since their first release early 80s while the popularity of hip-hop grew, so did the Air Force One. Since hip-hop culture was so closely connected to the streets of New York and the basketball scene there, many of the up and coming artists from the streets of Brooklyn rose to the top while wearing the Nike Air Force One.
The Air Force 1 was produced in and discontinued the following year. It was re-released in 1986 with the modern italic Nike Air Force Ones, logo with a swoosh on the bottom on the back of the shoe. Little has changed to the Air Force One since its creation in, although the original stitching on the side panels is no longer present in modern versions of the shoe. Since then, over 1,700 color variations have been produced, bringing in an estimated 800 million USD/yr in revenue. The selling of the Air Force Ones online by certain retailers is prohibited by Nike who has restricted supply of the sneaker.
Nike Air Force One was named after the Air Force One plane that the President of the United States flys in. In the early 1990 ’ s the Nike Air Force One lost some popularity, but in the later 1990’s and 2000’s the AF1 made a come back.
The Nike Air Force One have been released so many times that no collector has one of every pair of the Nike Air Force One. With so many limited colorways, celebrity exclusives, and even special holiday shoes, not one person has a good estimate of how many Nike Air Force Ones have been produced.

The Nike Air Max shoes are second to none for performance and style of all running shoes. The Nike Air Max shoes were first released nearly 20 years ago and have been a favorite of many. Though a little premature of the 20th anniversary, Nike launched its latest marvel, the Air Max 360, along with a History of Air Max package to celebrate the technology and accomplishments of the Nike Air Max shoes.
The shoes have always been high tech for their time so runners have always worn them, but they are equally valuable as a casual shoe. They are generally fairly comfortable and the designs and colors are very inspired in some cases. The 1995 model was extremely popular for a long time and saw many colorways introduced. Its popularity has waned but many people still love the shoe. Originally it was met with some skepticism due to its suede construction, high price tag and neon accent color. International collectors quickly came to love the shoe and eventually it became popular in the USA as well.
Nice Kicks is committed to having all of the latest information about the Nike Air Max shoes from special launches, to release dates, to the history of the Nike Air Max line. Listed under each category of the Nike Air Max shoes, you will find links to authentic Nike Air Max shoes sellers. This way one can be sure to get not only a great pair of Nike Air Max shoes, but also authentic ones.
The Nike Air Max shoe uses a large air cushioning unit at the heel which is visible from the side of the midsole in most models. Different types of Air Max cushioning include "Air Max" which does not have the "holes" in the cushioning unit and is of high pressure, "Tube Air" which is visible in several small circles on the midsole of the shoe, "Total Air" which is basically just another word for full Air Max cushioning, "Tuned Air," which is a system of individual pods supposedly "tuned" to different areas of the foot. Air in the early 1990s which was visible through the bottom of the shoe (although smaller portions of Air units are visible through the bottom of many Air Max models) and another type of Air cushioning is the low profile and very responsive.
Especially sought after models (according to Nike''s History of Air advertising) include: Air Max I 1987 Air Max II (commonly known as Air Max Light) 1989 Air Max III (commonly known as Air Max 90) 1990 Air Max IV (commonly known as Air Max BW or Air Max Classic) 1991 Air 180 1991 Air Max 270 (commonly known as Air Max 93) 1993 Air Total Max (commonly known as Air Max 95) 1995 Air Max 97/98 Air Max 2003 Air Max 360 2006. Air Max 360 2007. (The newest pair(s) ) The 1993 model was the first to have the fully visible heel Air unit that was visible in the back as well as on the sides, and the 1995 model was the first to feature visible forefoot Air. The 1997 model was the first to include a full length Air bag.
The Nike Air Max 90 was first released in 1990, but then it was not called the 90, it was called the Air Max III or the “Air Max”. In 2000, that is when Nike officially changed the name to Air Max 90. The first color way to release is the white/black/cool-grey/red. Most people loved the red that was around the Air
The Air Max 95 was based on the human anatomy. With the spine of the shoe resembling the human spine and the original materials to represent skin etc. Although stores were reluctant to stock this shoe because of its high technology and hence high price tag, they took a chance it became the first shoe to be more than sold in JD Sports. However they are often replicated and sold on the internet for a small fraction of cost.
The uppers on the Nike Air Max 90 was made of Duromesh, synthetic suede and synthetic leather. But was it the material that made the Air Max 90 so sought after, or the nice color ways? People had their own reasons, personally I love the Air Bubble. Also in 1990 Nike released special leather limited edition models, but only in a couple color ways.
According to a new police database, the footwear of choice for criminals are Nikes with Nike Air Max 95''s being the most popular. Air Max 95''s are also the chosen the street gang.
Air Max cushioning has been used in shoes for almost all sports by now including basketball, cross training, golf, casual shoes, sandals, tennis, etc.; however the "Nike Air Max" is always a running shoe. An example of a basketball shoe would be "Air Max Uptempo."
Since 1990 Nike has produced some really nice color ways, using different materials. Recently, Nike released a special Air Max 90 for Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns, also a pair for the store “Huf”. Another concept Nike had done is take the Air Max 90 and put the Air Max 360 sole on them, making it a hybrid.
On 21 January 2006 Nike launched the Air Max 360. A revolutionary shoe design that utilized Max Air through out the shoes midsole. Traditionally, running shoes have used cushioning systems combined. Foam midsoles generally last for about 500 miles before their shock absorbing properties deteriorate.
2006 Nike introduced a special ''one time only pack'' which fused the 360 model with three classics. The three shoes used were the Air Max 90, Air Max 95, and Air Max 97. For this special release, the revolutionary design of the 360 sole was used in place of the normal sole of the three classics. The shoes were released in the three original color ways which are red for the Air max 90, green-yellow for the Air Max 95, and grey-silver for the air max 97. Like other Air Max releases, deluxe editions were also produced. These deluxe editions included a new material and a different color way. For this release the deluxe edition uses premium brown chocolate leather. Included in the release of this one time only pack, four clerk designs were also chosen to be used.
The use of ''360'' of air cushioning ensures the shoes longevity.
Nike''s most popular skateboarding shoe, Nike Dunks have all the the high quality design features that Nike Dunks. Nike Dunks have been available for over 3 years now, and come in over 65 different color variations and styles. No other skateboarding shoe has so much variety. I really enjoyed testing these shoes out - I used the Nike Dunks Low Pro SBs. They were just thin enough to give great feedback, but also strong enough to not wear.
The Nike Dunks was first introduced by Nike Inc. in 1985. As the Nike Terminator’s "fraternal twin", originally having numerous colors in most sizes for various Universities and Colleges. Since its reintroduction in 1998, the Dunk has transformed from a basic basketball shoe into a subcultural icon and an inspiration for fashion and art.
Nike launched the Nike Dunks line in March of 2002 at the start of the rise of the Skateboarding trend. For years in California, the skate culture was very popular and skateboarding shoes and clothes were worn more as casual wear than by actual skateboarders.
The Nike Dunks has a lower profile outer sole than its parent shoes. The intent was a lighter weight and staying closer to the ground. In addition, the paneling was revised to improve basketball game performance during pivoting and blocking. The Dunk was used to spearhead what Nike called the ’College Colors’ program. They signed some average college basketball teams to an exclusive Dunk sponsorship deal; in simple terms, the deal meant that each colored pair of Dunks matched their uniforms.
Nike Dunks Pro SBs are well made, and deceptively simple feeling skateboarding shoes. All are double stitched, action leather and suede. From there, each of the Nike Dunkss has its own style. Like I said, there are over 65 different styles of Nike Dunkss available at this moment - some are high tops, like the Dunk High Pro SB, with the stylish old school solid profile sole. Others have a more sporty look, like the Dunk Low Pro SB with stitched sole and a multi purpose design. Nike even has Baby Dunk SBs that only come in baby sizes
Nike saw the potential to tapping into this market and thus launched the Nike Skateboarding line.Nike launched their skateboarding lines on the back of the Nike Dunkss SB.Nike Dunks Pro SBs are most definitely skatable. The thin Zoom Air soles give great board feedback while still maintaining cushion. The only problem here is that the uppers are fairly thin - you will wear out your Nike Dunkss pretty quick if you do a lot of flip tricks. But this thin-ness is what allows for better control. It''s a trade off. The Nike Skateboarding Dunks were the same shape and fit as the Nike Dunkss, but with several performance changes.First of all, Nike knew that with the wear and tear of the foot, a good cushioning system was needed. Since skateboarding shoes need to have a low center of gravity, the Nike Dunkss SBs had Zoom Air insoles. Next, the Nike Dunks SBs had extra padding added to the area around the ankle and to the tongue. The extra padding to the tongue did provide some extra cushioning between the top of the foot and the board, but it was more for cosmetic appearance than anything. Lastly, Nike beefed up the quality of the materials on the Nike Skateboarding Dunks.
There have been many special events celebrated with the Nike Dunks SBs. There were special skateboarding Dunks made for St. Pattys day in 2005. Also, there have been some ultra-rare Lebron Nike Dunks SBs even though Lebron James doesn’t skate. The Nike Dunks SB was also the first shoe that Nike did colaborations with other artists and companies. Only a few years ago Nike decided to enter the skateboard shoe market. One of their first shoes was the Nike Dunks. Dunks were originally basketball shoes (thus the name "Dunk") back in the 80s, but the shoe worked fairly well for skateboarding too, having a flat sole that allowed for good board feel. Since the Dunk''s evolution into a skateboarding shoe, the letters "SB" have been added to signify their link to Skateboarding. Nike Dunkss now feature the Zoom Air sole, suede toe caps for better board grip, and nice puffy tongues.
All out havoc broke out in New York when there was the super rare release of the Nike Dunks SB “Pigeons.” In February 2005, a mini riot broke out at a store on New York’s Lower East Side as sneakerheads camped out in freezing temperatures for days to get the new Nike Dunks SB release, the Pigeon Dunk, for $300 a pair. When the store opened, according to the New York Post, 70 people were in line. Twenty got the shoes, the other 50 got attitudes. Police were deployed on scene before hand because many knew what would happen when news got out to the sneakerheads who waited outside in freezing temperatures for several days for nothing.
However, since the start Nike has had the stigma of a big company coming into skateboarding just to make some money. I was apprehensive at first about Nike skate shoes, but I like the way they''ve gone about it. Instead of making cheap crap skateboarding shoes and trying to undercut the skate shoe market, Nike has taken the high road. Nike Dunkss have their own unique style, and while some of their shoes look like a pack of crayons left on a stove burner, some of them look pretty cool. And all of them are well made. Whatever your take on Nike being in the skate market, it is nice that they actually took the time to make skateboarding shoes that work well.
Unveiled at the NBA All Star Game, Nike showcased its first ever Kobe Bryant sneaker. If you remember, Kobe Bryant used work with Adidas and they had those ugly Kobe clunkers with the internal shoe laces. The Nike Zoom Kobe I is actually a natural progression from the Air Huarache and Nike 2K4s. Nike: Men''s Air Zoom Vomero+2 Running Shoe - Incredibly light and responsive, the Nike Men''s Air Zoom Vomero+2 Running Shoe maximizes performance by positioning your foot closer to the ground through a thin profile Zoom Air shock absorbing system. This premium feel is complimented with a breathable mesh upper and supportive overlays, an external anatomically shaped heel counter, and a new foot shape design that provides optimum fit and comfort. The Zoom Kboe I is a lightweight show designed for guards and slashers who want durabilty and flexibility. The shoe seems to be a hit, although I did expect Nike to do a larger campaign and really highlight the campaign with a big launch. But - just as the shoe is nondiscript and a progression from the 2K4 - the Zoom Kobe I is appealing in its simplicity. Likewise, the Zoom Kobe I is splendidly comfortable and has a great feel about it. Also of note - the Zoom Kobe provides great grip and traction - particularly important for outdoor wear or poorly kept (ie dusty) indoor courts. A Nike+ pocket under the sockliner provides a secure place for an Apple iPod? nano sensor that enables you to transform your iPod nano into a personal workout coach with the Nike+ iPod? Sport Kit.hookup. This wireless sensor and receiver combination works exclusively with your Nike- shoes and iPod? nano? to give you real-time feedback during workouts and let you track your performance on your Mac or PC. With supple cushioning and Nike+ technology you''ll maintain the pace, no matter what your workout style. Right now the only Zoom Kobe I colorway is white with varsity red sole and ankle support. The Nike Swoosh is black and the heel is black and checkered. I suspect they will allow custom ID creation of the Zoom Kobe and introduce a Lakers Purple and Gold colorway. Highly breathable sandwich mesh upper with supportive overlay for fit, support, and comfort Nike Zoom Kobe I stats and features from Nike: "A lightweight, highly responsive hoop shoe, inspired by the game''s fiercest player.
